How high should the fixture be installed?
The WPA reference says a movable overhead fixture should be no lower than 40 inches (1.016 m) above the bed, while a non-movable fixture should be no lower than 65 inches (1.65 m). Fixture optics and room height still matter: confirm player sightlines, cue clearance, service access and the manufacturer's installation limits before approving the suspension.
How can a venue prevent glare and rail shadows?
Test from standing height, normal shooting positions and spectator paths. The WPA warns that directed light must not blind players; buyer discussions also repeatedly flag shades that create dark bands near the rails. Use shielding or diffusers where required, keep bright sources out of direct view and inspect the entire perimeter with players around the table.
What belongs in the lighting acceptance test?
After tables and room finishes are installed, record fixture model, mounting height, dimming setting and light-meter readings on the agreed grid. Photograph visible shadows, check camera flicker when streaming matters, test controls and emergency access, and list corrections before handover. Include voltage, certification and installation responsibility in the written project quotation.
