Order cloth from a confirmed cut plan, not the table's 7ft, 8ft or 9ft label alone. The plan must cover the measured playfield, six rail pieces, cloth roll width, grain or smooth-side orientation, pocket finishing allowance and installer method.
Measure the actual playfield and rails
Measure cushion nose to cushion nose for the bed and record each rail length and width. Identify table type, slate framing and pocket style. Marketing sizes vary, while non-standard rails, deep shelves and unusual corner construction can change the cutting allowance.
Confirm cloth width and the cutting layout
Ask the cloth supplier or installer for the layout before cutting. Simonis publishes separate cutting patterns by cloth width and table size and notes that many tables require special sizes. A generic linear length without the roll width and rail plan is incomplete.
Separate bed and rail requirements
Confirm whether the order is a pre-cut bed-and-rail set or yardage from a roll. There should be enough correctly oriented material for the bed and all six rails without piecing visible playing surfaces. Do not cut rail strips from the ends unless the approved guide allows it.
Match the installation method
Framed slate may use a staple-down method while some unframed coin-operated slates use an approved glue-down process. Simonis recommends professional installation and warns that correct tension and orientation affect wear. Confirm adhesive, fasteners and installer responsibility before shipment.
Add project-safe contingency
For multi-table venues, approve one installation first, record actual yield and keep spare cloth from the same approved color lot where practical. The spare quantity depends on table count, layout and maintenance policy, so confirm it in the written quotation rather than applying one universal percentage.
What to include in your RFQ
For a comparable quotation, send the target billiard discipline or table model, destination country, expected order quantity, intended venue, required customization and preferred delivery window. Ask the supplier to separate the standard scope, optional items, spare parts, export packing and installation support.
