Distinguish dirt from friction marks
Loose chalk and dust may lift with an approved low-impact method, while a glossy white or discolored friction spot may remain in the fibers. Photograph the dry cloth under consistent light and ask the cloth installer before using liquid, heat or aggressive brushing.
Control the ball and break area
Dirty or damaged balls transfer residue and can increase surface stress. Inspect and clean house sets on a schedule, remove damaged balls, replace a worn head spot and consider a small approved break cloth for practice or high-volume use where venue rules allow it.
Match cloth selection to the venue
Speed is not the only buying criterion. State daily playing hours, cleaning routine, humidity control, tournament or casual use, preferred color, table type and installer method. Ask the supplier to separate material specification, finish and care instructions in writing.
Use a written maintenance routine
Assign a clean tool to the cloth, remove dust without forcing it deeper, keep food and drinks away, cover unused tables and record spills or unusual marks immediately. Follow the cloth maker and installer's guidance because pile, worsted construction and installation differ.
Include care requirements in the RFQ
For a multi-table order, request cloth width, color reference, bed-and-rail cut plan, installation method, cleaning guidance and same-lot spare availability. Approve one installation first and retain the documented cloth reference for later replacements.
