Slate is the preferred specification for long-term, level and serviceable play. MDF can reduce purchase price and weight for casual indoor use, but it is more sensitive to moisture, sagging and repeated relocation.
Playing performance
Properly supported and leveled slate provides a stable reference surface over many years. MDF quality varies and should be judged by panel thickness, support spacing, moisture protection and the intended duty cycle—not by appearance alone.
Freight and installation
Slate adds weight and requires trained handling, suitable access and accurate leveling. MDF is easier to move, but lower freight should be weighed against expected service life and replacement risk in humid or high-traffic venues.
How to specify an RFQ
State the bed material and thickness, number of pieces, frame support layout, leveling method, climate conditions, daily playing hours and warranty expectations. Request section drawings and packing photos before bulk approval.
What to include in your RFQ
For a comparable quotation, send the target billiard discipline or table model, destination country, expected order quantity, intended venue, required customization and preferred delivery window. Ask the supplier to separate the standard scope, optional items, spare parts, export packing and installation support.
